My favorite project this year that was the most successful was the perspective piece. This is when we got boxes and made designs with shapes.
We had to draw a vanishing point somewhere on the box, and draw every line from that dot. After drawing those lines, we went in and drew those shapes from there. This is a project that I didn't necessarily like or dislike, but the project that I grew the most from was the fashion design project. This just involved drawing the pictures and I never used to be that great at drawing. This unit helped me become better at drawing and those drawings didn't look that bad. I had to draw frequently in this class throughout the whole year. As I kept having to draw, I ended up getting better at it. So that is a great skill to have. The one piece of artwork that involved skills from a previous project is the clay/fairy house project. During this project, I had to use clay tools and a sponge to make everything look right. I used a needle tool to cut out a part for the wall of my clay house, I used a sponge for smoothing the clay out. This is so I wouldn't get cracks in my particular clay model. The clay models have to go through a process. After constructing the clay model once, it turns into an object called greenware and I had to cover it with a trash bag so that it would not get hard. In order to make it bone dry so that I can glaze it, the product needs to be put in a kiln. When it comes out, it becomes bisque pottery. Those were some of the things I had to know when making the coil pots, bowls, and a tray. That was the first clay unit, and the second clay unit were making houses. I incorporated these skills into the second clay unit and I had to know what the process was this time. These were the techniques I knew in order to create the piece, and I was able to make this model even better than the other clay models that I made in the past. The piece of artwork that really reflects me as an artist is the lighthouse painting that I made at the very beginning of the year. It really reflects me as an artist because I enjoy drawing or painting anything with oceans or skies. I took a lot of time into painting it and it took about 3 to 4 weeks for the painting to be completed. It was hard to find a project that really represented me, but another one that I had a personal connection to was the mask drawings. This is when we made masks out of plaster strips, and we got to paint it however we wanted to. I painted mine in Italian colors because I am Italian, and I gave it a good background with a color that went well with the mask. All in all, the products I made in this class were done to the best of my ability. The feedback I would add to this course is to try and make the room a little bit neater. Art and design can help change the world because it adds creativity, and it shows how the world is different with different people. Art can make me feel better about myself and can make me feel good about doing what I never thought I was able to do before. Art/Design has impacted my life greatly because it made me a better artist and it made me learn new things about colors and other art skills.

Proportions - Size of the parts that are relative to the other parts of the same object. In this case, I needed to consider proportions when I did the drawing of the figure in the beginning. At first I had someone measure the parts of my body and I had to take those measurements and divide them by four. I had to get them as precise as possible. So that it looks ideal. I was able to draw them pretty well but had to shorten them a little bit so that it can be able to fit on the page.
Scales - These are the size of somethings relative to human. In this project, I used scales to best determine my body size and draw it on a piece of paper. This makes it look pretty precise and makes it look ideal to what I actually look like. I tried to construct my figure in the same kind of way with the wire and it does look pretty similar to the drawing. Journal Entry: |
